Troubleshooting with Red and Blue Lights Inside the 2551 Magmeters
The 2551 Magmeters use two colored LEDs to indicate the operational status of the device.
• No Lights: The power is off or the sensor is not connected.
• Solid Blue (D7): The power is on but there is no flow in the pipe.
• Blinking Blue (D7): Normal operation, blink rate is proportional to the flow rate.
• Alternating Red-Blue: Empty pipe indication (electrodes are not wet or are coated with something.)
• Blinking Red (D6): System errors (Electrical noise interference). Check grounding and wiring.
• Solid Red (D6): Instrument error (defective electronics component). Power the unit OFF/ON and check again.
2551 Blind Magmeters manufactured before October 2005 had two red LEDs and operated differently:
• D6 blinks 4 times when the Magmeter is powered up, and then it is OFF during normal operation.
• D6 flashes when there is a communication error, EMI, loose wiring, or a defective component.
• D7 turns OFF when an error occurs. Check grounding and wiring.
• During normal operation, D7 blinks at a rate of about 10 blinks per second.
• When D7 goes off, the cause is coded in the S3L data stream. Manufacturing tools are required to determine
specific causes.
