Relay Window Mode Using the 8900 Multi-Parameter Controller

The 8900 Multi-Parameter Controller is Signet's first product to offer a Window Relay Mode, which allows the user
to select a range of values (or a window) to set up an alarm condition.  The set up for Window mode is different when using Dry-Contact Relays versus Solid-State Relays. The Window mode is a software function, therefore it will work for both internal and external relays modules related to the 8900. 

The default setting is set to trigger the relay within the specified window, however, the relay can be triggered outside the window as well.  The procedure for the Dry-Contact Relays require a wiring change and the Solid-State Relays require a software parameter change. See below:

Relay 1 Window Setpoints (used for Dry-Contact or Solid-State Relays)

 

  Dry-Contact Relays
  •   To trigger an alarm when the process signal is inside the specified window, connect the output signal between
       the common (C) and the Normally Open (N.O.) terminals.  See Figure 1 below.
  •   To trigger an alarm when the process signal is outside the specified window, connect the output signal between
       the common (C) and the Normally Closed (N.C.) terminals.   See Figure 2 below.

 Solid-State Relays
  •   To trigger an alarm when the process signal is inside the specified window, go the "Relay" menu in the 8900
      and select "N.O." for the "Relay 1 Logic: " menu item.   See Figure 3 below.
  •   To trigger an alarm when the process signal is outside the specified window, go the "Relay" menu in the 8900 and        select "N.C." for the "Relay 1 Logic: " menu item.   See Figure 4 below.
