Installing Metal Fitting Inserts

Georg Fischer Signet offers several plastic inserts as service items for our metal installation fittings. These inserts are used for Rotor-X flow sensors and if they need to be replaced for any reason, there are a few things that you would need to know to properly replace them. To insure a proper fit, please take the following into consideration:

1
Provide two of these:
  • Inside diameter, outside diameter, and wall
    thickness of pipe.
  • Or you may provide the pipe size, schedule,
and type: "2 in. schedule 80 PVC"
2
Provide height of the outlet, from outside diameter of pipe to top of the fitting.
3
These limits are necessary to insure that the insert will fit properly and allow sufficient clearance to secure the sensor.

½ in. to 4 in. pipes (P31515-0V200 insert):
Wall thickness + height of fitting MUST NOT EXCEED 1.5 inches.

5 in. to 8 in. pipes (P31520-1V insert):
Wall thickness + 10% of interior diameter + height of fitting MUST NOT EXCEED 2.75 inches.

10 inch and larger pipes (P31520-2P insert):
Wall thickness + 10% of interior diameter + height of fitting MUST NOT EXCEED 5.75 inches. The maximum insertion depth is 2 inches.
